What Does Amy Klobuchar Think?

St. Paul, May 16 - Last night, the President called for tougher immigration laws and in particular to strengthen border security. In his address, the President called for 6,000 National Guard members to be placed along the border to prevent the flow of illegal immigrants streaming across the border.

“Border security is Homeland security and I’m pleased the President is finally addressing this head-on, and I will work to make sure the Administration follows through with action, not just talk,” said Mark Kennedy. “Any comprehensive immigration reform has to include tightening our borders to know who is entering and making sure they are doing so legally.”

Mark Kennedy has supported legislation in the House to strengthen our borders, hold companies accountable that knowingly hire illegal immigrants, and require new citizens to pass an American history test in English & pledge undivided allegiance to the American flag. While Kennedy also supported the REAL ID Act, requiring that states obtain proof of legal residence before issuing government ID’s such as a driver's license, his opponents have remained silent on the need for these common sense immigration reforms.

“Immigration reform will undoubtedly be a major issue of this campaign, providing a major contrast between myself and Amy Klobuchar,” added Kennedy. “I find it troubling that Ms. Klobuchar has not spoken publicly about the need to control our borders. The people of Minnesota deserve to know where candidates for the U.S. Senate stand on this important issue.”
