Education
I will work to make sure our schools are preparing our children to be informed citizens and successful adults with good jobs and fulfilling careers.
We accomplish that by understanding Washington’s proper role in education. I believe decisions about how best to educate our children should be made by people who know their names – parents, teachers, and local school board members – not bureaucrats in Washington.
As the first boy in my family to graduate from college, and the first to pay back student loans, I’m committed to supporting programs to combat rising tuition costs. Increasing financial aid, scholarships and Pell Grant funding are some of the programs I’ve supported to make college a reality for more Minnesotans.
Minnesota’s public education system is one of the best in the country and I’m committed to keeping it that way. As a father of four, the son of a school board member and the husband and brother of public school teachers, you can be assured that delivering the best public education for our children remains a top priority for me.
We must make sure our schools are accountable to parents and students, and that the dollars spent are spent in the classroom, not wasted in bureaucracy.
